MEET DR. INDIA D. GIBSON

Dr. India D. Gibson, a native of Winnfield, Louisiana, developed a passion for helping others early on. Her commitment to service was demonstrated by her participation in school and church community outreach programs. The importance of discipline and education were greatly instilled in her by her parents and grandparents. With a desire to make a positive impact throughout her community, Dr. Gibson found her inspiration to pursue a career in Dentistry while volunteering at a community dental health center. Dr. Gibson earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from Grambling State University, where she actively participated in various student organizations and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Dr. Gibson went on to pursue her dream of becoming a Dentist at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree in 2008.

Dr. Gibson has demonstrated great skill and passion in the field of Dentistry for over 10 years. Shortly after graduating and starting her career at David Raines Community Health Centers, she was recognized for exceptional patient care and her strong work ethic by being promoted to Dental Director, where she managed 7 dental community health programs as well as provided comprehensive dental care to patients in underserved communities. Over the years, Dr. Gibson has found it an honor and privilege to be able to serve the great men and women who help serve our country, by volunteering with Reach Out Health Care America to provide dental services for the military soldiers. Each year she also participates with Team Smile and the New Orleans Saints for a day of providing free dental care and education to young children because she strongly believes that educating the youth on the importance of oral healthcare allows them to implement good practices early on that will aid in the prevention or help minimize dental issues later on in life.

Dr. Gibson is licensed to practice Dentistry in the state of Louisiana and Texas. She is presently active in multiple professional organizations: American Dental Association, National Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, Houston Minority Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, Greater Houston Dental Society, Academy of General Dentist, American Association of Women Dentist, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
